WELCOME

This web site was created to help you learn more about the reality of life for Palestinians in the occupied territory of the West Bank and explore options for responding to their call for solidarity in non-violent resistance to the occupation. The United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine and Israel calls to United Church members, adherents and friends to join in this partnership with Palestinians. We are one of many groups that are following this path. We offer numerous resources for your study to provide resources for action. We believe it is important to understand the complex dimensions of the path to peace in Palestine and Israel. We hope you will use these resources to help in the way of peace.

OUR MISSION

In bold discipleship with Christ and in solidarity with churches and other partners in the Middle East, Canada and globally, UNJPPI works to engage, nourish, and channel energy in The United Church of Canada toward the goal of a just, sustainable peace in Palestine/Israel in alignment with international law. This peace would exist within a political framework whereby everyone who lives in Israel / Palestine would enjoy equal and full human rights and political self-determination. Towards this end, UNJPPI facilitates education, promotes partnerships, coordinates advocacy, and encourages action, both within and beyond the United Church.

WHAT CAN I DO?

To join the network, please subscribe to the email list to receive a newsletter once a month with updates and action ideas.

Educate yourself.  This website is a source of resources and news that can be used in leadership in communities of faith and regional councils as well as recommendations of actions to promote justice and peace in Palestine/Israel.  Almost every page has a 'What Can I do' section with suggestions for concrete actions you can take.

A coordinating team meets regularly. You are welcome to express interest in joining the coordinating team or one of our Committees (including Advocacy, Communications, Conference Planning and more).

WHAT IS UNJPPI?

UNJPPI (United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine/Israel) is a grassroots network of United Church members and adherents, and other friends, established in 2012 in response to the calls from leaders of Palestinian churches in the Kairos Palestine Document (KPD). The Kairos Palestine Document eloquently describes the long-standing and worsening conditions faced by Palestinians living under the illegal Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza. Palestinian Christians say,
Our future and their future are one. Either the cycle of violence that destroys both of us or peace that will benefit both.
UNJPPI seeks to raise awareness of the conditions of Palestinians under the illegal Israeli occupation and encourages action to pressure the state of Israel to end the violent occupation of and on-going settler-colonial project that includes building Israeli only settlements on Palestinian land. UNJPPI agrees with Palestinian churches, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch that Israel is an apartheid state. The illegality of the Israeli occupation and the reality of apartheid was confirmed by the International Court of Justice ruling of July 2024.
