UNJPPI Privacy Policy

(last updated July 2024)

We are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information.

Overview

The United Network for Justice and Peace in Israel and Palestine (UNJPPI) is
committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. Personal
information is collected, used, maintained, and disclosed in compliance with
the principles of UNJPPI’s Privacy Statement, the Personal Information
Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and other applicable
federal and provincial privacy legislation.

Our Commitment to Our Donors

We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information
with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other
organizations.
This policy applies to all information received by UNJPPI, both online and
offline, on any Platform (‘Platform’, includes the UNJPPI website and mobile
applications), as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.
To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service
provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

Online Event Registration

The UNJPPI website offers links to many different online tools to facilitate
event registrations. These may include, but are not limited to: EventBrite
(opens in a new tab), SurveyMonkey (opens in a new tab), and Google Forms
(opens in a new tab).
When you register online for an event, we ask for some personal information. We use this information only for matters related to your
registration and participation in the event, and to follow up about the event.
While we try our best to select trustworthy and reputable third-party tools,
these services are not controlled or maintained by UNJPPI, and we cannot
guarantee the privacy or security of any information you provide to these
services. We recommend you review the privacy policy for each service
before disclosing personal or sensitive information.

E-Newsletters

We use MailChimp (owned by Intuit) to host and manage our e-newsletter service. When you
subscribe to one of our e-newsletters, we ask for your name, a valid e-mail
address, city, province and country. The residential information is so UNJPPI
can create geographic subgroups and share news relevant to your location.
All newsletters have an option that allows you to cancel or modify your
subscription preferences at any time. “Unsubscribe” requests are fulfilled
promptly, and no further communications will be sent to you.
We WILL NOT make any personal information about our subscribers
available to any third party except as required by law. MailChimp’s legal policies (opens in a new tab) outline what specific information is gathered on
their site and how that information is used.

Online Groups, Networks, and Blogs

The UNJPPI website offers links to different online tools to facilitate communication with our members, adherents, volunteers, and interest groups. These range from simple blogs or groups to more sophisticated
networks on Facebook.
While we try our best to select trustworthy and reputable third-party tools,
these services are not controlled or maintained by UNJPPI, and we cannot
guarantee the privacy or security of any information you provide to these
services. We recommend you review the privacy policy for each service before disclosing personal or sensitive information.

Log Files, Tracking, and Cookies

UNJPPI collects and uses the information contained within an automatically
generated log of all traffic on our website. UNJPPI’s website is hosted by
Web Hosting Canada (WHC) and is subject to the WCH Privacy Policy (https://whc.ca/legal/privacy-policy).
The data collected by WHC may include digital information (IP address,
browser information and history, device information, meta data, certain
provided social media identifiers, etc.).
Information about WHC’s use of cookies and tracking technologies may be
found on the same link (https://whc.ca/legal/privacy-policy) under the heading ‘Statistical and cookie information’.  Individual traffic patterns will not be disclosed to any third party except as required by law.

Changes to This Privacy Statement

UNJPPI may from time to time change this Privacy Statement as new services
are added or old ones changed. Please review this statement regularly for
updates

Cookies

Suggested text: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Suggested text: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

Suggested text: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

Suggested text: If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Suggested text: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
