On Nov 17, 2023, UNJPPI members and a large number of others wrote a letter to United Church General Council encouraging the church leadership to write to the Prime minister calling for support for a Ceasefire, an end to the decades long occupation, an end to the blockade of Gaza and to work towards a future where all Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace.

…Secondly, we urge you to use available technologies to speak to the members of The United Church of Canada to explain why it is urgent for all members to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. It is our view that many members across the church lack adequate information about the context and circumstances that have led to the current horrific situation. We therefore also urgently request the gathering, listing, and dissemination to congregations of backgrounders and other sources of
educational information, as well as more robust concrete actions members can take especially in support of the Palestinian people…
